28 FEB. Ahead of his much anticipated season with Ferrari, Charles Leclerc has said (and he will say this only once) that there needs to be an end to the constant ‘Allo ‘Allo! references.
The most famous Leclerc in France* before Charles, was of course, hero of the resistance, Monsieur Roger Leclerc, out of 1980’s telly programme, ‘Allo ‘Allo! and since making his F1 debut with Sauber last year Charles has been bombarded any time he goes near Twitter with quotes and jokes from the show.
A spokesman for Charles said: “Enough now, really is enough, it was kind of funny at first but he really has had it with ‘pople rispunding to twots he pists‘ with yet more ‘Allo ‘Allo! quips”.
Things apparently came to a head, when on arriving for pre-season testing in Barcelona, team boss, Mattia Binotto, slowly raised his sunglasses and said mysteriously “It is I, Leclerc!” before launching into an embarrassing series of jokes about ‘The Fallen Madonna with the Big Boobies’.
*We know Charles is actually from Monaco but to all intents and purposes, Monaco is a bit of France. A much nicer, cleaner, richer bit but still a bit of France all the same.
