Wimbledon, London. It is mid-June and the skies are dark and heavy with rain, this can mean only one thing, the Wimbledon Tennis Championships are nearly upon us.
While tennis itself is a rather dull sport and having to put up… with hordes of big, pink, apoplectic, bingo-winged women bellowing at Andy Murray, is enough to test the patience of a saint, there is the saving grace of the women’s game.
However, the focus this year is not on what Maria Sharapova (pictured) or Ana Ivanovic will wear, but on the noise that some of the women players are making which is beginning to prove a bit tiresome.
Sharapova and Monica Seles before her, have long been the winners in the volume stakes but this year they could be drowned out by Portuguese 16 year old, Michelle Larcher de Brito, who’s screaming at the recent French Open caused opponents to complain to the umpire.
Still, if she can drown out the mental housewives out on ‘Murrays Mount’, formerly ‘Henmans Hill’, then maybe she’s not all that bad…
