World of Sport - Madonna wins Iron Man event

Sister Madonna Buder is a 78 year old nun, who, when not serving the big man upstairs, indulges her passion for triathlons. Sister Buder recently entered the gruelling ‘Ironman Canada’ event which comprised a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bicycle ride topped off with a 26.2 mile marathon. Jesus.

Sister Buder did well on the swim but struggled with the bike ride which included 6000 vertical feet of climb meaning she was already struggling even before she had to run the marathon.

With darkness approaching, our gallant nun-on-the-run cut a lonely figure as she strived to finish inside the 17 hour time limit.

The old girl came pretty close, crossing the line just under three minutes outside the cut off time to rapturous applause from what can only be described as very patient spectators.

Sister Buder is said to make it her ‘habit’ to train ‘religiously’.
