June 4th, Swaziland. The Swaziland Football Association are somewhat miffed today as after spending nearly £400,000 on an artificial pitch at their one and only stadium, superstitious players promptly went and dug it up.
Apparently, the players entered the Somhlolo National Stadium after dark and dug holes in which to place lucky charms, known as ‘Muti’, with the worst damage being around the goal area and in the midfield.
The ‘Muti’ are supposed to have an adverse affect on opposing teams while bringing great luck to the home squad.
Wonder if this would work for Newcastle United?
