After sifting through hundreds of ideas as to what Timo Glock will have for his tea at the weekend we settled on a two course meal from Kathryn Bird. We were inundated with so many salads and pastas and we… liked Kathryn’s assertion that Timo “Could do with a decent meal”.
Timo’s girlfriend, Isabell, will cook the meal, the man himself will photo it for Twitter and then get stuck in. Kathryn wins some goodies from Virgin Racing and for good measure Timo will autograph the recipe.
Here it is…
Kathryn Bird’s Marinated Chicken with Virgin Olive Oil
For Timo Glock
Prepared by his lovely young lady, Isabell Doreen
Ingredients - Serves 4 (Timo, this means you can share some if you wish)
4 chicken breasts, scored in a criss cross pattern
2 tbsp Virgin olive oil
1 courgette, cut into long thin strips with a peeler
1 pepper, deseeded and finely diced
2 pak choi / spinach
Salt and pepper
Marinade
Bunch of spring onions
2 tbsp honey
2 red chillies, deseeded and chopped
4 tbsp soy sauce
2 tsp fresh ginger
Basil
How to prepare
First of all, Isabell, send Timo to the supermarket to get the above ingredients. Remember, he is a man, so you must give him a clear list. When he gets back, get him to rest on the sofa with a beer and get yourself in the kitchen. There is no time to waste, he’ll be hungry after all that shopping.
Preheat oven to 200c
Mix marinade ingredients in a bowl and pour over the chicken. Leave to marinade for 30 minutes. This gives you plenty of time to make sure Timo is fine, take him another beer and see if he needs you to switch the TV over.
Scrape the marinade from chicken and put to one side.
Heat the oil in a pan until very hot and fry chicken until golden. Add the rest of the ingredients and the marinade. Season well and cover with foil.
Bake for 20 minutes.
Serve with rice, noodles or drop the whole health thing and go for chips.
After this, your man may want to put his feet up but there is no rest for you. Get the first lot of washing up done and then get cracking with the pudding..
Timo’s Truffle Chocolate Puddings
Ingredients - Serves 6 (remember Timo, it is the Canadian Grand Prix next week so take it easy, a moment on the lips means a lifetime on the hips)
150g unsalted butter, plus extra for greasing
150g caster sugar, plus extra for coating
150g dark chocolate
3 large eggs
50g plain flour, sifted
6 chocolate truffles
Double cream, to serve
How to prepare
Leave the oven at 200c
Lightly grease 6 x 150ml ramekins with butter, fill with caster sugar, rotate and empty until fully coated with sugar.
On a very low heat, melt the chocolate and butter together, stirring occasionally, then set aside to cool slightly. Check Timo is still ok, he may be asleep in front of the TV by now. If so, gently prod with a rolled up newspaper.
Gradually whisk the sugar into the eggs until pale and thick.
Stir the chocolate into the egg mixture and fold in the flour.
Spoon half the mixture into the ramekins, drop a truffle into the middle of each one and top with the remaining mixture. Transfer to a baking tray and bake for 10-12 minutes or until risen and coming away from the edges.
Do not worry if you have any puddings left (which may be doubtful) as they will keep. Pop them into a plastic container and Timo can take them to Canada. They will keep him going on the long flight and he may even have some to share with his friend at work, that nice Lucas di Grassi chap.
(With thanks to Timo, Isabell and Virgin Racing for being such good sports!)
