Campos name change pleases women fans of a certain age

Following their recent takeover, the Campos team are now to be known as HRT F1. Women’s groups are said to be delighted that an F1 team are naming themselves after Hormone Replacement Treatment, highlighting one of the many difficult things… females have to go through in life.

Prominent womens rights activist, Sheila Pike, left, told us today that a campaign is already underway for other teams to follow Campos’ example and that other outfits may want to consider names like, ‘PMT F1’,  ‘Don’t you talk about my mother like that F1’, ‘Not tonight I’ve got a headache GP’ and ‘I’d like to see you cope with childbirth F1’

Yet another Campos buyout?

Yet another Campos buyout?

With everybody from Flavio Briatore, Bernie Ecclestone, Volkswagen and those loudmouth’s from Serbia reported to be buying Campos, we can today reveal that the beleaguered Spanish team has been saved.

Again.

A consortium lead by British aristocrat Lord Lucan (pictured) who has not been since 1974 and Shergar, the missing racehorse, with financial backing from the fabled, undersea city of Atlantis promise to get the team on the Bahrain grid with a car built from kryptonite.

Australian GP imports some Glasgow glamour...

Australian Grand Prix organisers today confirmed that Simple Minds would be in attendance during the race weekend. At first it was thought they were talking about Ralf Schumacher and Jacques Villeneuve who are rumoured to be turning up but it… turns out to be the wrinkly rockers from Scotland, who will play a post-race concert.

The band have said that they will dedicate their 1982 hit ‘Promised you a Miracle’ to Campos and USF1 should either of arrive Down Under while Force India will get a rendition of ‘Alive and Kicking’ should they beat their current accountancy problem.

Toyotal Recall

Toyotal Recall

Stefan GP’s plans to nick Campos’ place on the Bahrain grid have been dealt a blow as Toyota have recalled their cars due to a technical glitch.

Toyota engineers have discovered that despite building dozens of F1 machines that contested 140 races… over 8 years at a total cost of a gazillion dollars, that the cars never actually won anything.

The vehicles have been sent back to the factory and in the meantime Stefan have been lent a couple of Yaris courtesy cars.

Hands up time – the Toyotal Recall headline was pinched from @sniffpetrol

Villeneuve for Yorkshire F1?

Villeneuve for Yorkshire F1?

Jacques Villeneuve is apparently talking to several teams for next year, with the rumours pointing him in the direction of one of the three new squads.

USF1, for reasons known only to themselves, want American drivers, and even though Canada is… close to America it doesn’t quite count as a US State. Spanish team, Campos, also seem to be going down the route of providing employment for a couple of fellow countrymen so that leaves Yorkshire F1.

Our Yorkshire correspondent tells us that YF1 team boss, John Booth, is known to want an experienced F1 campaigner in the team and with Jacques not in a position to ask for much of a wage he could have himself a bit of a bargain driver.

You heard it here first….

Nico Rosberg 2010 F1 World Champion…

Nico Rosberg 2010 F1 World Champion...

As things stand today, Nico Rosberg is pencilled in to be the 2010 F1 World Champion. With next seasons grid looking to consist of Williams, Force India, Campos Racing, Manor Grand Prix and those chaps from America plus all… the other entrants the FIA didn’t want the first time around , it is fair to say Nico is in with a good shot at the title.

That is assuming of course, that he wants to drive in a glorified version of GP2 rather than take the drives on offer from McLaren or BMW instead…
