Lotus unveil a Malaysian Grand Prix special

Given that the weather forecast for Sunday’s Grand Prix borders somewhere between a severe thunderstorm and a monsoon of biblical proportions, Lotus have taken radical steps to make sure they can do well in their ‘home’ event and stop Safety… Car driver, Bernd Maylander from winning the race.

Lotus have borrowed the Series One Esprit, used by James Bond in the 1977 smash hit ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’ for a one off appearance this weekend.

Despite the fact that a Lotus of that era would generally rust to nothing if you breathed on it, the Esprit was excellent in damp conditions, ie: underwater, and the team hope that this car will help them cope with the expected conditions come raceday.

Surprisingly, none of the other teams have protested, though Virgin have raised concerns about the car’s machine guns and surface to air missiles which they fear could come in to play in the unlikely event one of their cars gets past the Lotus.
