April 15. London, England. There are some people who go through life without a care in the world, then there are those who have to look hard for something to moan about, then there is the animal rights group, Peta.
In quite the most hopeless attempt at getting a bit of free publicity, Peta has called upon pop group, Pet Shop Boys, to change their name to Rescue Shelter Boys.
Apparently this is all to do with pet shops (are there any left?) being cruel to rabbits and gerbils and that by calling themselves by their current moniker, Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe are encouraging beastly practices.
In her letter, Peta’s Special Projects Manager, Ms Yvonne Taylor, admits that her request “may at first seem bizarre”.
We’ll stop there, as they were in fact the only five words of sense she could come up with.
Mind you, Peta members aren’t averse to getting their kit off to get their message over and we are happy to help them publicise this aspect of their work.
