McLaren are at the centre of a new race fixing scandal after it emerged that they deliberately conspired to win the Singapore Grand Prix. According to our paddock source, a whistleblower at the team has given an inside account of… how the team made sure that it was they and nobody else that would win the race. The allegations are backed up by TV footage and radio transcripts and seem to show the following:
-
The team made sure, that in Saturday’s qualifying session they would end up quickest, therefore getting them pole position and an advantage over every other team on the grid.
-
In conjunction with their lead driver, they conspired to run a great race, making sure that their pit stops were perfect – showing that the plan involved everybody, from management right down to the mechanics.
-
Furthermore, it is alleged that the team have been working behind closed doors, in an attempt to make their car better than anybody elses.
Apparently, McLaren have indicated that they will not contest the allegations and have asked that the fine be added to their account.
