Following the departure of Honda, BMW, Bridgestone, Toyota and more sponsors than you could crash a Renault at, F1 has today announced that it is to withdraw from itself. F1 said today that you could pick any one of the… rubbish excuses given by the others (it’s the recession, we have achieved all we can, we are concentrating on our core business, we are being more green, we could not beat Douglas Bader in a one-legged race etc) but that the decision was final.

Disgraced Renault boss, Flavio Briatore, has not had the best of times recently, bless his silken socks, but he could soon be cheered up if he sells his apartment at One Beacon Place in New York for a profit of… $14 million. The penthouse pad has four bedrooms, a study, an exercise room, a view of Central Park and “13-foot high ceilings” which must be useful for very tall visitors.
Apparently, according to the estate agent, it also has the “most powerful master bedroom seen in years.”
Well that explains the beautiful, recently impregnated, 29 year old Wonderbra model then.

Flavio Briatore’s cunning disguise is not quite good enough, as officials spot him trying to scale the paddock fence.

At today’s meeting of the World Motorsport Council in Paris, Renault were asked if they would mind not fixing anymore races for the next two years. Meanwhile, McLaren have been handed a $50 million fine together with disqualification from the… Hungarian Grand Prix when evidence submitted, showed that they had parked two of their trucks in the wrong part of the Hungaroring paddock for a full five minutes.
A source described McLaren’s actions as ‘completely inexcusable’ and warned of further severe repercussions, possibly including the execution of selected team members, should they ever do anything even slightly wrong ever again.

Renault sponsor, ING, has a brand new and extensive TV campaign, where the butt of the joke revolves around airbags going off. Nice one. (see video)

Former Ferrari No 2, Eddie Irvine, has today said that ‘rule bending’ has always gone on in F1 and that what Renault did in Singapore last year was; “Probably slightly on the wrong side of the cheating thing.” So that’s all ok then.

For sale, several dozen paddock passes for the rest of the F1 season, not needed as owner staying at home. Call Chipping Norton 678000 and ask for Flav.
