Stefan GP prove they are ready for F1 - with a piece of paper.

Stefan GP prove they are ready for F1 - with a piece of paper.

In scenes reminiscent of when Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain returned from Germany in 1938, waving a piece of paper proclaiming all was well, the Stefan GP team have now had their own Chamberlain moment.

In a statement on their website, Stefan… confirm that they have indeed sent some boxes to Bahrain and one of them might even have a car in it. They back this up by showing a receipt from DHL. If ever there was final proof that (A) They should be on the grid or (B) They are just plain mental, then this must be it.

The statement continues, (in the friendly manner we have become used to from Stefan); “If case we don’t receive the chance to compete in Bahrain, and also when some of the teams fail to show up, somebody should be in a trouble explaining what is happen to all of us (sic)”

They add: And dreamers from USA will have to explain their actions, because they are deliberately weakening F1 with dreaming of perfect world and fairytales about success. And success doesn’t come by talking but with hard work and a lot of guts.

You have been warned, oh yes, you have been warned.

Saving Private Alguersuari

Saving Private Alguersuari

In Spain’s ‘El Mundo’ newspaper, Toro Rosso driver, Jaime Alguersuari, claims that Red Bull forced him to step in and replace Sebastien Bourdais last season and he compares himself to a World War Two hero.

In a rather erudite piece, which… for anybody following his Twitter account is a bit of a surprise, Jaime says; “I was an employee of Red Bull and I could say neither yes or no to replacing Bourdais.” He went on; “I am no longer a soldier thrown on to the beaches of Normandy” before adding that he could be the ‘surprise’ of the season.

The only real surprise is that anybody would choose to give such a headcase the keys to an F1 car…

Petrov reveals why Grosjean got the push

Petrov reveals why Grosjean got the push

According to new Renault signing, Vitaly Petrov, the reason Romain Grosjean was not retained by the French team for 2010 was because he made a mistake by joining the team half way through the season.

While most people think Romain got… his marching orders was because he was just plain rubbish, Vitaly has his own theory.

Petrov says “It was a mistake, a team asked me to race in mid 2009 and I said no, it is necessary to start with a whole season ahead.”

Petrov however is not rubbish, Renault rate him so highly they only want him to pay 15 million Euros to drive their car for a year and will drop him quicker than you can say glasnost should he not have the money in the bank by next Monday.

J-Lo responsible for USF1 sponsor pull out

J-Lo responsible for USF1 sponsor pull out

USF1 sponsors were thrilled last week when Peter Windsor announced to the world that he had signed J Lopez as a driver for 2010. However, they were none too pleased when they discovered it was not the Latin warbler and… B movie actress, but some bloke from Argentina nobody had ever heard of.

Windsor tried to placate sponsors by pointing out that the pedaller in question, one Jose Maria Lopez, had won lots of races in tough series like the Buenos Aires VW Polo Cup and that in any case, there was no way Ms Lopez could have squeezed her arse into the USF1-01.

Reports elsewhere confirmed that Windsor will definitely be on the grid in Bahrain, probably back doing his old job for Speed TV.
