With a little help from Formula One aspirants Lola, some of the bods at Warwick University, have built an F3 car from items they found lying around a local farm.
The website for World First Racing rather seriously announces; “Following the… recent turmoil in F1 arising from the high costs of running competitive motor racing teams, the viability of motor racing is being critically questioned”.
They drone on: “With this in mind we are seeking to prove to the motor industry that it is possible to build a competitive racing car using environmentally sustainable components”.
Are these the only people on the planet not to have noticed just how disastrous the last effort at ‘green’ motor racing was?
Apparently the steering wheel is made from carrots and other root vegetables, the wing mirrors are made from potatoes, it uses plant oil based lubricants and has an engine that will run on vegetable oil and waste chocolate.
Now all they need is a turnip to drive it, has anybody still got Ralf Schumacher’s number?
