Now the legal wrangles are hopefully behind them, Donington Park chief’s are pushing ahead with building work at the track with the hope of being ready for next years British Grand Prix. However, with the prospect of a long wet… summer holding things up, they are working on an audacious plan to make sure the race can be held.
Specialist engineers are building a tunnel, that will start at East Midlands Airport, link via the Channel Tunnel and the Trans-Europe oil pipeline, before popping up near the Istanbul Park Circuit. Visitors will make the 18 hour journey in a series of eco-friendly trams with a park and ride facility at each end.
With Turkey having a great track and no spectators and the UK having loads of spectators and only the hope of a track, the solution should keep all parties happy.
