McLaren engineers may have solved one of the reasons as to why Lewis Hamilton has been having such a poor season so far. While observers thought that the problem lay in him having a car that could not out-drag a Nissan Micra…. it appears that poor peripheral vison from the cockpit of the MP4-24 could be to blame.
Our source close to the team said; “They have tried everything, trick diffusers, KERS, aero upgrades - you name it - but it appears that with the new high wings and side cockpit protetction, some of the smaller drivers can’t see where they are going”
To this end, the team have installed an extra set of eyes, one on each side of Hamiltons head which will be useful to keep off the barriers in Monaco.
When they get to Turkey, with it’s long, fast straights, they plan to install a pair in the back of his head, which will be handy when Jenson Button comes up to lap him.
